The cottage was everything we thought it would be: picturesque, quiet & peaceful" K & MS,Sept 07

The cottage was excellent. It contained everything we needed, was really comfortable, and was so peaceful. The library was most helpful. CM, May 08.

ACHNACROISH is an original croft cottage said to be the oldest surviving on the island, and dating back to the 18th century. Seil, once an important slate quarrying area, is connected to the mainland by the "Bridge over the Atlantic", and is 12 miles south of Oban. The cottage was restored and modernised in 1975, and has been kept in excellent condition since. It retains its original character with thick external walls, local slate roof, and small windows. It stands in a field on a croft containing sheep, and facing east, enjoys lovely views over to the Degnish peninsula. Behind is Barr Mor from the top of which there are wonderful views of Easdale Island, Mull, Luing and Seil, as well as the cottage. The cottage is connected to the road by a short track. Also on the croft is a small bungalow.

"The location is great, restoration excellent, felt instantly at home" GM. Perth, Sept 07
